Parked in Miami’s baking sun, its Ferrari red paintwork and tinted glass ensured the two-seater easily matched its billing as one million dollars’ worth of hi-tech prototype. To add to the drama, its keepers had hired a heavily armed Florida State Trooper, just to keep an eye on things.

This exciting new British sports car proves that being green doesn’t have to be dull. Called the Climax, the ultra-lightweight two-seater is inspired by the Formula One racing cars of the Fifties and Sixties, and features a mid-mounted, flat-four-cylinder turbocharged engine that runs on E85 bioethanol.

Alfa"s 159 won the Best...

Alfa"s 159 won the Best Design prize, with the chairman of judges George Emmerson commenting: "It"s a tough marketplace and Alfa is pitching for very high stakes with the 159. But it just looks wonderful, and it"s a great car to drive as well."

Meanwhile, the Jaguar XJ picked up Best Luxury Car for the 3rd year running. In the UK the XJ claims a 20% share of the large luxury market and has outsold all of its major competitors since launch in 2002. Emmerson said of the XJ: "Fleet managers can have no qualms whatsoever regarding anyone choosing this vehicle as it is a truly first-class package in every respect."
