The MG-Lola AER EX264 triumphed in the LMP2 category for lightweight prototypes, and featured Brits Andy Wallace and Mike Newton (image) on the driving force. It wasn’t without its problems, though. The struggling Williams F1 team scored its first point since May’s European GP after Mark Web?ber finished eighth in China. Technical chief Sam Michael said: “The variable conditions aside, the car has definitely improved both in reliability and performance, and we’ll go to the last two races looking to score again.” The outfit believes unreliability this season has cost it about 50 points in the constructors’ championship. Meanwhile, it’s re-signed test driver Narain Karthikeyan.
