Also unveiled this week...

Also unveiled this week is the worldò€™s first integrated billing system for motorists using electric car charging posts.

Called EBConnect, itò€™s the brainchild of British company Elektromotive and is designed to make it easy to work out how much energy is used and bill customers accordingly.

Itò€™s compatible with all fully electric and plug-in electric hybrid vehicles, and will be installed in all 160 Elektrobay charging stations in the UK. The system is smart enough to cope with a number of payment methods. These include a ò€˜pay-and-goò€™ service, where the user adds credits to a personalised Elektrobay keyfob. Alternatively, costs can be added to driversò€™ household utility bills. The balance can even be settled remotely via a text message.

Elektromotive has also unveiled a prototype of its Elektrobay ò€˜fast chargeò€™ station. It takes less time to power up batteries, and is well suited

to heavier users of electricity, such as commercial vehicles.
