Auto Express can reveal Cadillac’s upcoming CTS-V has recorded a blistering lap of 7:59.32 while undergoing final testing at the Nurburgring. The time is the fastest ever publicly documented by a production Saloon around the circuit.
Cadillac has since confirmed "the record-breaking time was completed with no performance modifications outside of those planned for consumer production". This means buyers of the high-performance, luxury saloon can expect to experience the full 550 bhp unleashed by the 6.2-litre V8 supercharged engine when the car reaches the showrooms next year. There will also be the option of 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions for the first time.
Production is due to begin in the U.S. this autumn with a right-hand drive version expected to follow next year.
Auto Express will be adding further images and video documentation of the record-breaking lap to this page throughout the week.
