Boffins are developing an automated roadworks vehicle that closes M-way lanes without putting workers at risk. The Dutch prototype, known as the Mars truck, lays rumble strips, places illuminated road closure signs and is operated by the driver in the cab. Designers are now working on a robotic arm that positions and retrieves traffic cones.

MV Designz in Southern California took a five-door Yaris and turned the tailgate into an electrically operated split tailgate. It reversed the opening of the rear doors to suicide doors. Yet another one of this year"s SEMA Motor SHow"s environmentally friendly concepts, it runs on natural gas.÷  The wide body kit allows room for 11-inch wide 19-inch wheels in the rear.
