Now, I’ve never...

Now, I’ve never been one to shy away from poking a bit of fun at our friends across the pond. But you have to admit, one thing that the Americans do well is showbusiness. Whether it’s in Hollywood for the Oscars, the University of Phoenix Stadium for the Super Bowl or, in my case, the Daytona International Speedway – the self-proclaimed World Center of Racing – for the 50th Daytona 500, when they do it they do it with polished razzmatazz. It’s exactly what Formula One, for all its millions and zillions of pounds and grossly overblown egos, somehow fails to achieve!

While the overall shape will remain the same, there"s a sharper nose with larger headlamps and a more rounded rear end. The cabin will be more roomy thanks to increased external dimensions: the new model is 232mm longer, 6mm taller and 45mm wider than before.

Here"s a perfect way...

Here"s a perfect way to climb the career ladder! This space-age staircase is built from the rear ends of several C4 Coupés, and is one of eight finalists from Citroen’s C-Design contest to have been made into a fully functioning prototype.

The challenge was to take parts from any of the firm’s production or concept cars, and turn them into something for everyday use. Other finalists include a matt-black drain cover made from an alloy wheel, a phone fashioned from a C4’s door handle and a sledge cobbled together from C3 components.

The winner, who collects a 10,000 Euro prize, will be selected this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture show in Milan, Italy – after which all eight models will stay on display for a week. See www.autoexpress.co.uk to find out which one takes the award.
