A huge 66 per cent said that they wanted to see the logo adopted by all approved garages. The seal of the British Standards Institute, the kitemark is currently being embraced by the automotive aftermarket industry.

The surrounding bezel has the look of the mesh grille from a veteran sports car, while the date is displayed in the centre of the stylised bonnet badge of a Sixties racer.

However, as they say, time is money, and the Petrolhead watch costs a cool ÷£1,850 - the same price as a half-decent used car!
