In a move that will...

In a move that will be music to the ears of thousands of in-car entertainment lovers, new models from each manufacturer will now be compatible with Apple"s popular digital MP3 players.

Buyers will be able to connect up their unit in the car"s glovebox, where the device will be stored out of sight and charged up, too, according to an Apple spokesman.

He added: "Drivers will be able to use their vehicle"s steering wheel-mounted multifunction controls to select their favourite tracks."

However, not all manufacturers are as quick off the technological mark when it comes to car audio. Some firms still offer cassette players in their new models, and even trendy MINI only stopped selling cars with tape decks two years ago.
