Developed by Homeland Defense Vehicles, Texas, it costs í‚á£120,000 and can drive through 5ft of water and up a 60-degree slope.

Smart’s new ForTwo has been awarded four out of five stars in the latest Euro NCAP crash tests. The city car gained only two stars for pedestrian protection. An NCAP spokesman said: “The front edge of the bonnet scored no points, and we rated as poor the areas which may be struck by pedestrians’ heads.”
Drivers in dark over Code update
Motorists aren’t aware of changes brought in by the new Highway Code. Eighty per cent of drivers didn’t realise the latest rules forbid playing loud music at the wheel, and 65 per cent were oblivious to the fact that eating when driving is banned, too. But that’s not overly surprising – the study, by Churchill Car Insurance, also revealed a third of motorists didn’t even know the Highway Code had been amended.
