Exeter-based technology firm LastMile has developed a new solar-powered transceiver, which can be fitted into road furniture and used to beam traffic information into cars. It is working on the project with Qinetiq – the company which carries out weapons testing for the Ministry of Defence.

The first-ever TV station dedicated to one car maker was launched this week. The Audi Channel will broadcast on Sky Digital 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Programmes will cover footage of sponsored events - such as Le Mans racing - celebrity interviews and documentaries on the maker"s history.

Lotus displayed a naked chassis on its Geneva stand, designed to show off the engineering department"s Variable Vehicle Architecture. But the most interesting aspect was the admission by staff that it will form the basis of three new cars. The first is a crossover SUV for China, while the second and third are the new V8-powered Esprit and a 2+2 GT Lotus supercoup탩.
