The car makes its public debut at the Paris Motor Show this week, and heralds the dawn of a new era for the hard-pressed firm



This is the new Focus...

This is the new Focus ECOnetic – a special low-emission, super-frugal model. The suspension has been lowered to improve aerodynamics, while a drag- reducing bodykit with modified bumpers, side skirts and rear spoiler have been fitted. Add low rolling-resistance tyres, a remapped ECU and low-friction engine oil for the 109bhp 1.6-litre TDCi, and it returns 66mpg, with CO2 emissions of only 115g/km.

Visually, the newcomer...

Visually, the newcomer isn"t much different to the standard model, although it gets a revamped front grille and rear bumper. Under the skin, the S boasts uprated suspension and a modified edition of the 6.0-litre V12 bi-turbo engine, which now develops 612bhp and 1,000Nm of torque. The model made its debut at this week"s Geneva Motor Show, and will cost more than í‚á£250,000.

Malaysian car maker...

Malaysian car maker Proton"s support for Norwich City FC won it Best Club Sponsorship in the Football League Awards last week. Proton and the Canaries have coached 1,000 children in Malaysia in a Football in the Community campaign: "Sponsorship is more than putting a badge on a shirt," said Norwich"s Andrew Cullen.
