Meet the team tasked with saving the UK car industry. Announced earlier this month, the Automotive Council is a Government initiative designed to create long-term strategies for the car industry in this country, and now the all-important members have been named.
The Council will be jointly chaired by Lord Mandleson and Richard Parry Jones, the former vice-president of product development at Ford, widely credited with kick-starting Ford"s recent run of class-leading success.
Other experts on the panel include ex-Formula one designer, now working on his own revolutionary T25 city car, Gordon Murray, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover David Smith and Chairman and Managing Director of Vauxhall, Bill Parfitt.
The Automotive Council was formed as a response to recommendations made in an industry report by the New Automotive Innovation and Growth Team (NAIGT), and is due to meet for the first time in December.
