With the hayfever season...
With the hayfever season in full flow, MP Andrew Dismore is campaigning for clearer labelling on over-the-counter drugs to keep road users informed about the side-effects of their pills. More than 100 drugs are known to cause dizziness and delayed reactions. "Clearer labelling will alert people to the unexpected hazards," said Mr Dismore.
Motor manufacturers...
Motor manufacturers and governments have been spending billions on fuel-cell engine research, but the latest analysis says the results are so expensive, very few drivers will buy them before 2020. A report by HyWays, the team planning the development of hydrogen as a fuel for Europe, has dismissed officials" hopes for the gas to be widely used in the next 14 years.
The group predicts less than one per cent of all cars may be running on hydrogen by the end of the next decade. The EU says countries should aim to have five per cent running on hydrogen by 2020, but HyWays rubbishes those expectations. "This target cannot be met, even under the best conditions," it commented.
The biggest problem is producing the fuel cells cheaply enough to compete with conventional internal combustion engines, said the team.
