Michelin has joined forces with motorway service chain Moto to offer drivers free tyre checks throughout the spring and summer. Michelin technicians will be on hand at Moto sites to hand out advice. A Michelin spokesman said: "We want motorists to be aware of the safety factor of tyre pressures in relation to handling and braking."

A scheme which would see vehicles ring the emergency services after a smash has hit a snag. Launched this year by the European Union, eCall was meant to be in place by 2009. But so far only Finland and Sweden have agreed to install the equipment needed in call centres. Germany will sign up to the plan soon, but no other country has expressed interest.

It"s the French firm"s latest show car, a striking two-seater with a targa roof that could be the baby brother to the C3 Pluriel. And as Citroen has such an excellent habit of turning its concepts into reality, it"s likely that this will be the next C2 supermini.

Selling your car just...

Selling your car just got easier, thanks to a new scheme from British Car Auctions (BCA). Sure Sell is a pilot programme aimed at private motorists who want to take the hassle out of shifting their motor.

A BCA spokesman told Auto Express: “We’re trying to make auctioning a car simpler for owners. With Sure Sell it’s very clear what fee you will pay, and vendors are given the option of having their vehicle cleaned. We can even arrange to collect it.”

The initiative will be reviewed in a few months’ time, when further adjustments to the service could be carried out. “We’re gauging the initial reaction from the public to find out what works and how we can best serve our customers,” the spokesman explained. And while selling your car at auction isn’t necessarily the most lucrative way of getting rid of a vehicle, it does offer other benefits.

“It’s for people who want to turn their vehicle into cash very quickly – you could have the money in your bank account within a couple of days,” said the spokesman. “ The process also offers security to the seller, because you can protect your privacy throughout. There’s no need to have people come round to your house and take test drives.”

Owners using the service can fix a reserve price and don’t even need to attend the sale. The initiative is available across the company’s 22-strong national network of car auction houses. Go online and visit www.sure-sell.info for further information.
