The Insignia Sports...

The Insignia Sports Tourer just became loads greener! Following ecoFLEX versions of the saloon and hatch bodystyles, the estate variant has now been given the green treatment. And Vauxhall claims that despite CO2 emissions of 139g/km and a combined fuel consumption of 53.7mpg - a 12.3 per cent improvement over the standard car - it"s just as fun to drive.

Retaining the 158bhp 2.0-litre CDTi diesel fitted to the standard car, the 0-60mph sprint is dispatched in 9.3 seconds while top speed is an impressive 134mph. As well as higher gearing, thanks to a revised final drive ratio, a raft of aerodynamic changes have made the fuel-spping performance possible.

Modified front air inlets, underbody spoilers which deflect airflow over the rear axle and a closed front grille all help to minimise drag and lift. Ride height is also reduced, low-resistance tyres are fitted and aero fins on the rear window complete the package.

Prices start at ÷£21,515 for the Exclusiv model rising to ÷£27,750 for the Elite Nav.
