The Edition 100 is based on either the 1.9-litre TDI PD or 2.5-litre V6 TDI Elegance models, and gains 17-inch alloys, privacy glass, a rear sunblind, twin exhausts and unique badging. Only 500 are to be made, with 200 heading for the UK. Prices start from í‚á£20,900.

If Pavlov had experimented with car enthusiasts instead of dogs, it would have been the sight of an original Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang that got us Americans drooling - not a ringing bell. Ivan Pavlov was the Russian psychologist who rang a bell every time he fed his so-called "Pavlov"s Dogs". Eventually, the sound by itself would have the hounds salivating, proving that when the brain becomes conditioned to something, it can produce unconditioned responses. This is exactly what would happen to us Yanks with the Shelby.

The law change would apply to red-light cameras, too. Motorists are delighted - but not everyone else is. The move has sparked a row between the state senate and council bosses in the city of Toledo. The latter want the former to leave the law alone - because they reckon speed cameras work well.
