The new Cadillac CTS...

The new Cadillac CTS Coupé was one of the biggest surprises of the recent Detroit Motor Show for two reasons. Not only was the unveiling totally unexpected, but the stylish US machine was fitted with a six-cylinder 2.9-litre turbodiesel engine delivering 247bhp.

The new executive machine follows the S-Class"s styling, and features a bold face with a broad grille, plus dramatic triangular headlights for a look which is far more striking than the current car"s. The rest of the saloon is also expected to be inspired by the S-Class, with the design taking cues from the CLS four-door coupé, too.

The Japanese maker says it"s committed to offering hybrid models across its range. However, according to insiders at the brand, more oil-burning models are in the pipeline, too.
